The following was my first copyediting project from ENGL 5183; in order to reorganize the content and make it more readable and usable, the following substantive text, visual, and formatting edits have been made. The project was completed using Microsoft Word 2011 and included only four pages of edits with track changes, an original style sheet, and a transmittal memo; style sheet and memo are not displayed.
As a continuing student within the Technical/Professional Writing Graduate Certificate program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I am perfecting my craft of editing and writing with even more assignments and professional advisements. A notable course within this graduate program is ENGL 5183 - Editing Technical Documents, which introduces principles and practices for substantive editing and copyediting print/digital technical documents including instructions, formal reports, articles, and reference manuals. Projects are selected from among a series of real writing tasks and will involve both individual and collaborative work.
